Google Docs "ROCKS"

Newly developed Web 2.0 Tools
allow us to use the internet in new and exciting ways!!

Google Labs has released a group of tools called "Google docs, sheets and presenter"

What are Google Docs, Sheets and Presenter ?

For a basic understanding of "How these tools work" watch this short video
Google Docs in Plain English

To access these new tools, you will need a Google account or Gmail address.
To set-up a Gmail account follow this link: Gmail: Email from Google

note: Remember your username will be used in class...
so "rules of appropriate netiquette apply".

What can we Do with these tools?

Google docs, sheets and presenter - are similar to Microsoft's Word, Excel and PowerPoint, but they are very different in that they are stored online on Google's website, so we can "Access" them from any computer, any computer with access to Google!!! (pretty much world-wide) KEWL!!

We can also "Share" our docs and "Invite" other users
(anyone with a gmail address)
to "work together" (collaborate) on a document, spreadsheet, or presentation. Very KEWL!!!
Up to 15 users can work simultaneously. (at the same-time)

Now Let's get Started -

First let's create our first Google doc

Next we will learn how to Share our docs with others

Creating spreadsheets using Google Sheets

Finally, see how to create a presentation

Now that you have seen and understand how Google docs works,
we can use this new technology in our classroom
as a collaborative tool
to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations,
and that ROCKS!!!

Post comments about using Google docs, what innovative ways could we use this in class?
